RIP Scout

RIP Scout. For those of you that always wondered "Who's this Scout guy that's doing your surf reports in the mornings?". Well....Scout was the faithful black lab and best friend to my buddy Paul Pagliughi. Scout passed away suddenly on Friday. I know first hand how devastating this has been to Paul. Scout was with Paul pretty much 24/7 and he would take Scout with him every morning to the Point in Emerald Isle for a surf check and to just let Scout run around in the water. Then they would head off to work for the day. They went everywhere together. Now Paul actually did the reports, but he always put Scout as the reporter so we just ran with it over the years. If I couldn't get the reports myself in the mornings I would text Paul to see if Scout could do it. He responded by saying, "Let me get the boy up" or "We're on it" or he'd send me a pic of Scout in the water already. When you saw a black lab in the surf report pics in the mornings, that would be Scout. I saw Paul at the Mullet Festival yesterday afternoon and he broke the news to me about Scout's passing. My heart broke into pieces for Paul and Deb. It's not ever easy losing a furry friend. He was a good dog and one heck of a reporter. As Paul would say about Scout, "He takes his job serious". Scout you may be gone, but you'll never be forgotten.
